My Experience in Africa

For my sisters senior trip with my family she chose to go to Africa. We went on an elven day safari with no electronics and only one hour of wifi the entire trip. The experience really opened my eyes. We started in the Okavango Delta, waking up everyday at five in the morning to go out on a jeep trip. we saw all of the wild animals leaving freely amongst themselves. The second night there I even got to experience an African tradition that is sacred to them. A few days later we took a tiny plane to Savuti where we did the same thing, but the landscape was completely different. We saw how there's was barely any water for the animals, but luckily they had made many man-made watering holes just for the animals. Making our last trip to Zambia where not only did we get to see more wild life, but I got to experience the way the people there lived. Seeing the small schools, and the little huts the families live in made me realize how lucky I am for everything I have. We ended our trip by going to see the last remaining white rhinos in that part of Africa. The rhinos have 24/7 protection from poachers. The entire trip gave me a better understanding of animal rights and the way the people of Africa live.
